You've been working hard on your running and pace this year and now it's time to put your endurance to the test. Here are some races with a little added adventure and sight-seeng that are totally worth running in 2016!
Peachtree Road Race
Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Date: July 4th, 2016
Registration Fee: $35
The AJC Peachtree Road Race, organized by Atlanta Track Club, is the largest 10K in the world. In its 47th running, the AJC Peachtree Road Race has become a Fourth of July tradition for thousands of people throughout the metro Atlanta area and beyond.
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon
Location: Chicago, IL
Date: October 9th, 2016
Registration Fee: $185 - $210
The Chicago Marathon was founded in 1977 – that year they had 4,200 participants who only paid $5 to run the race. Today, Chicago hosts 45,000 runners from all around the world. The course runs through 29 different neighborhoods with the start and finish line in Grant Park. After completing, don’t forget to treat yourself to a deep dish pizza or a Chicago-style hot dog, you’ve earned it…when in Chicago, do as the Chicagoans do!
Rocket City Marathon
Location: Huntsville, Alabama
Date: December 10th, 2016
Registration Fee: $60 - $100
Let’s end the race season with the 38th Annual Rocket City Marathon in Huntsville, Alabama – also home to Fitness Fox's corporate office. This 26 mile race is a Boston Marathon Qualifier for the 2017 race season. There's even a shorter kid's "marathon" for you active little running enthusiasts! We couldn’t be more excited! Fitness Fox will have a booth at the expo on Saturday, December 10th, 2016. Don’t forget to stop by our booth and get race day ready with our new prints!
THE ROCK N’ ROLL MARATHON IN LAS VEGAS
Location: Las Vegas, NV
Date: November 12th - 13th, 2015
Registration Fee: $70 - $160
Experience Las Vegas in a whole new light – leave your dress and heels at home and pack your sneakers and shorts. The Rock n Roll marathon features a flat course running through the Strip with music that will keep your moving whether you are doing the half or full marathon. Celebrate at the finish line with an after-party that will put others to shame. Vegas, baby!
The Color Run
Location: Pretty much every major US city
Date: February - November
Registration Fee: $25-$50
Okay, so this is more like a party than a race, but if you're interested in something less intense (and more colorful) than a marathon, then The Color Run is the race for you. With events in over 50 countries, it's no wonder why this race is called the "Happiest Place on the Planet!" We recommend one of these events if you are looking for a good first race to run or practicing for a more serious 10K.
